Paul, your style and personality make learning these moves really fun. I also go "duh", because I can't believe what you show is there all the time and I don't see it til you show it. If I were rich, this 56 yr. old grappler would have you as my personal coach. Hope you never get tired of teaching; God gave you a very special gift!

This is really awesome stuff, young man. I really love taking the back. To me, it's the cleanest way to end a fight. No blood if you're fighting MMA, no uncomfortable armbars that can put you in a compromising position in BJJ. And the worst thing that can happen if he doesn't tap, they pass out. I love taking the back and putting on a RNC. Nice job, Paul. Thanks for the tips and keep 'em coming!

Paul, I appreciate your style very much. You’re an excellent coach. You are very articulate and the way you break things down makes them very easy to understand. As a blue belt and an OG, I am constantly struggling against the stronger younger more experienced guys... it is for this reason that i am a huge advocate of a good sound defense. Again, thank you.

Hey Professor Paul,
This is the kind of technique that all of us OG’s really need now, because we are at an age, and a stage in our life where by we need to try grapple smarter, and definitely not harder.
If you look at the statistics now, there are more OGs out there training in the BJJ than there is younger grapplers, and that’s because we are trying to use our grappling training for fitness, well being, and for self defense.
Now us OGs know that its definitely more about training smarter and not harder, so if we combine this mind set with all your fantastic techniques on the mat, it will certainly make the big difference that we are all looking for now, especially when we grapple with an egotistical 'young punk', eh Bro!

Paul, as a former wrestler I use the technique a lot and have been using it from both the arm and collar. As I have found with many BJJ techniques it is often the situational application more so than the technique itself that is important. Your parenthesis explanation was a light bulb moment for me. I instantly knew that if I do things to ensure my opponent is committing both hands my percentage of success should increase. As a former wrestler I have always focused on the arm I'm trying to drag. I will now try to bait my opponent to commit two grips before I utilize this technique and see if my success percentage increases. Thanks.

This is a great tip, very easy to do, but often overlooked or not used at all. I tried it on the mat last night and it worked! I’m 36 years old and in great shape, but I don’t like the young tuff guy attitude. It was great to take all 4 of their backs! All they do is offence and never work on defence. I’m the old guy that uses defence to create my offence, so I’m not the cool guy. Needless to say, they had to give up some respect to the old guy!
Thanks, Paul!

Very nice! I really like this technique because it gives a refreshing perspective I’ve never really seen in BJJ! Nobody I know plays the game like this. I am definitely going to add this to my defense as I’m sure it will place me a step ahead of my opponent which is ultimately what all grapplers should aim to achieve. And for the price this DVD set is going for, you'd have to be stupid not to get it!

Great video! The reason that a lot of grapplers wait too long in situations like getting their guard passed is due to their ego. You have to leave your ego off of the mat, and use your brain to beat your opponent. Every video that you put out, I learn something new. Keep up the good work!

Nice concept. That is what I like about your coaching; the concepts are far more valuable than one more crazy sweep or sub. The thinking behind why you do what you do is far more valuable and once put into practice, far more useful.

I tried this the other night and it worked like magic .If you think about it this hand movement is the same as in some styles of kung fu, greco roman arm drags and now bjj. Pure genius! Keep up the good work!
Over 50 and going strong, tapping and throwing!
